Gary qualified BDS at the University of Otago in 1984. Following a year as a locum in an Oamaru general practice, he joined the Regular Force of the New Zealand Army as a full-time Military Dental Officer. He served at Waiouru, Linton, Burnham and Wigram, overseas on exchange with the British Army in London, and with the Indonesian Naval Dental Institute in Jakarta. In 1991, still in military service, he returned to full-time study in Dunedin and completed a post-graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry, in the field of oral surgery and sedation. In 1995 Gary left the Army and moved to Dannevirke, opening Dannevirke Family Dentist on 13 November 1995.

 

Tracey was a dental assistant in Oamaru, before moving to the Central Institute of Technology in Wellington in 1986. Tracey studied dental technician and qualified in 1988. Employment was in Christchurch, initially in a crown and bridge laboratory and later in an orthodontic laboratory. Tracey now provides denture services and is a co-owner of Dannevirke Family Dentists Ltd.

 

Tracey and Gary were married in 1989, and live and work in Dannevirke. They have three boys. Tracey is also currently undertaking training and working as a funeral director.
